About Ycee
Condo was still climbing the charts when Ycee became the artist everyone wanted to know.
Oludemilade Martin Alejo was born on January 29, 1993, in Nigeria. The rapper, singer and songwriter would later adopt the stage name Ycee, pronounced WY-see. His breakthrough came early in his career, proving that talent and timing could reshape the industry overnight.
In 2015, Ycee released "Condo," a single that featured vocals by Patoranking. The song earned him two nominations at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards that same year. The track's success put his name in conversation with Nigeria's rising stars.
The momentum continued into awards season. Ycee received a nomination for Best Artist in African Pop at the 2015 All Africa Music Awards. His consistent output and growing fanbase made him impossible to ignore.
By 2016, he had solidified his place in the conversation. The Headies nominated him for Next Rated, a recognition reserved for the most promising talents in the industry. This nomination confirmed what listeners already knew: Ycee was here to stay.
In October 2016, Ycee signed with Sony Music, one of the world's largest record labels. The deal represented validation from a major international player in the music business. It seemed like the beginning of a major new chapter.
However, the partnership was short-lived. In February 2018, Ycee terminated his contract with Sony Music. The decision marked a turning point in his career path.
Since then, Ycee has continued to develop his sound as an independent artist. His work as a rapper, singer and songwriter showcases versatility across genres. The artist who first made waves with "Condo" remains a significant voice in Nigerian music.
