How Nigeria News Update - NNU sources, verifies, produces and publishes news content for Nigerian readers.

Our Mission

Nigeria News Update - NNU was founded in September 2016 with one clear purpose: to give every Nigerian access to all the news that matters, in one place, for free. We aggregate content from Nigeria's most trusted news organisations so readers can get a complete picture of what is happening across the country without visiting multiple websites.

In 2025, we rebuilt the platform from the ground up — adding original features, proprietary tools, and resources that go beyond aggregation. Today, NNU.ng is Nigeria's most comprehensive digital information hub, covering news, sports predictions, government salary data, celebrity profiles, student resources, financial tools, and more. Everything remains free.

Content Sources

All news content on NNU.ng is sourced from established, reputable Nigerian media outlets. Our source network includes Punch, Vanguard, Premium Times, Daily Trust, Channels TV, The Sun, Guardian Nigeria, Legit.ng, Sahara Reporters, Blueprint, Leadership and others. We continuously review our source list and only aggregate from organisations with verifiable editorial standards.

Every aggregated article on NNU.ng links directly back to the original source publication. We do not claim ownership of third-party content. We do not reproduce full articles — we display headlines, editorial summaries, and source attribution. Readers are directed to the original publisher for the complete story.

Original Content

NNU.ng produces the following categories of original content:

  • Editorial Summaries — Each news article includes a brief summary written by the NNU editorial system. These summaries are our own editorial interpretation of the source content and are not reproductions of the original articles.
  • This Week in Nigeria — A weekly editorial roundup of the most significant Nigerian stories, produced automatically each week with human editorial oversight.
  • NNU Editorial — A weekly opinion and analysis column generated each Monday, offering perspective on the week's top Nigerian news story.
  • Match Predictor — Original sports analysis using statistical data from verified sports data feeds. Win probability calculations, head-to-head analysis and match previews are produced by NNU.ng.
  • Who is Who in Nigeria — Over 1,100 original profile pages covering Nigerian public figures across politics, entertainment, sports and business. Profiles are researched and written by the NNU editorial team using verified sources.
  • Know Your Leaders — Original civic resource documenting Nigerian government salaries, allowances, military ranks and public office holder profiles. Data sourced from RMAFC and official government publications.

All original content is clearly identified as NNU.ng productions and is not attributed to third-party sources.

Advertising and Editorial Independence

NNU.ng is supported by advertising revenue through Google AdSense. Advertising is clearly separated from editorial content on all pages. We do not accept payment for news coverage, rankings, editorial features, or profile placements. Advertisers have no influence over our editorial decisions, content selection, or aggregation criteria.

We do not participate in native advertising or sponsored content that mimics editorial content. Any promotional content would be clearly labelled as such.

Privacy and Data

We collect minimal data necessary to operate this service. We use Google Analytics for aggregate traffic measurement and Google AdSense for advertising. Newsletter subscribers provide their email voluntarily and may unsubscribe at any time. We do not sell personal data to third parties.
