Jubril Adewale "Wale" Tinubu was born on June 26, 1967. His early career focused on navigating the complexities of Nigeria's oil sector through legal assignments. By the mid-1990s, he saw an opportunity others had missed.

In 1994, he co-founded Ocean & Oil Group with a vision to transform oil trading and shipping in Nigeria. The company wasn't built on old structures. Instead, Tinubu guided its strategic development from the ground up, establishing operational excellence in a sector notorious for inefficiency.
