About Walé Adeyemi

Beyoncé wore his designs. So did Rihanna, Alicia Keys, and Usher. When Walé Adeyemi dresses a global superstar, Lagos knows about it.

Walé Adeyemi MBE is a British-Nigerian fashion designer whose work has shaped British style for over two decades. He studied Fashion Design at Thurrock and Basildon College, then pursued formal training at South Essex College between 1990 and 1992. His hunger for the craft led him to Kent Institute of Art and Design, where he completed an HND in Fashion Design by 1994.

At 18, Adeyemi began an internship with British designer Joe Casely-Hayford. This early mentorship under one of Britain's most respected names set the tone for his career. The experience taught him that fashion could be both rebellious and refined.

The Walé Adeyemi collection debuted in 1998 as a menswear line positioned "somewhere between the kerb and the boutique." It was a statement. His designs lived in the space between street culture and high fashion. The collection eventually expanded to include womenswear, broadening his reach across gender and aesthetic.

His talent earned him recognition early. In 2001, he received the Fashion and Design Award at the Carlton Multi-Cultural Awards. Three years later, he was nominated for the AoC Gold Award—which he won. By 2005, his iconic Graffiti Collection cemented his status as an innovator in British design.

Beyond his eponymous brand, Adeyemi has held influential positions in the industry. He served as head designer at B-side and creative director at New Era. Major brands including Adidas, Caterpillar, Nokia, Martell, and Superdrug have enlisted his vision. He became an ambassador for The Prince's Trust, using his platform to nurture emerging talent.

His client roster reads like a who's who of global entertainment. The Black Eyed Peas, Missy Elliott, Tinie Tempah, Ms. Dynamite, and Joey Badass have all worn his pieces. Even the Beckhams—Victoria and David—trusted him with their style.

Walé Adeyemi proved that a British-Nigerian designer could dress the world. His journey from South Essex College to dressing Beyoncé shows what happens when ambition meets craft.
