Sule Lamido governed Jigawa State for eight years. His tenure from 2007 to 2015 made him one of Nigeria's notable regional leaders during the Fourth Republic.

Born on August 30, 1948, Lamido came of age during Nigeria's early independence years. He would later emerge as a prominent figure in the country's democratic experiment.

Before his governorship, Lamido served as Nigeria's Foreign Affairs Minister from 1999 to 2003. He handled the nation's international relations during a critical period of democratic transition. This role positioned him as a respected voice on Nigeria's global stage.
