# Sarz: The Producer Behind Nigeria's Biggest Hits
"Really." That one word, delivered with signature cool at the end of a beat, became Sarz's calling card. Osabuohien Osaretin, known to the world as Sarz, has produced some of Nigeria's most infectious tracks without needing his face on the cover.
Born on March 17, 1989, in Benin City, Edo State, Sarz grew up surrounded by music in one of Nigeria's cultural heartlands. The city's rich musical heritage shaped his ear and ambition. By his early twenties, he was already crafting beats in studios, learning the craft from the ground up.
His first major production credit came in 2007 with Lord of Ajasa's "See Drama." The track announced his arrival as a producer with genuine skill. What followed was a steady stream of work with Nigeria's biggest names. Wizkid, Naeto C, Banky W and Skales all tapped into his production genius.
Sarz didn't limit himself to production alone. He mixed and engineered records, understanding every layer of a song from inception to final polish. His work with Reminisce, Goldie Harvey and eLDee showed his versatility across different styles. He produced for Wande Coal, YQ, Lojay and Niniola, proving he could shape hits across genres.
In 2013, Sarz was signed to Trybe Records, one of Nigeria's respected music outfits. The partnership gave him resources and exposure. When his contract expired in November 2013, he moved forward as an independent producer, maintaining full creative control over his work.
What set Sarz apart was his consistency. While many producers chase trends, he built a catalog of timeless records. His beats had space and sophistication. Artists wanted to work with him because his production elevated their vocals and lyrics.
Today, Sarz remains a sought-after name in Nigerian studios. The tag "Sarz on the beat" or "Really" still signals quality to listeners across Africa and beyond. From Benin City to global recognition, he built his reputation one beat at a time.
