About P-Square

P-Square is a Nigerian music duo composed of twin brothers Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye. They co-write and co-produce most of their songs, earning recognition as one of the most influential African acts of all time. The group achieved mainstream success following their 2003 hit single "Senorita," which introduced them to a global audience.

Their 2005 sophomore album Get Squared solidified their position in African music and earned them an MTV Europe Music Awards nomination for Best African Act in 2006. The duo was integral to shaping 2000s and 2010s African popular music through their artistic reinvention and musical versatility. Their visual presentation and live performances became hallmarks of their brand.

P-Square founded Square Records and released a string of successful albums including Gameover (2007), Danger (2009), Invasion (2011), and Double Trouble (2014). The Gameover album was particularly significant, reportedly selling over 8 million copies worldwide. The project explored multiple societal themes such as love, regret, assurance, and political criticism.

In 2015, the duo received the Artistes of the Decade award at the MTV Africa Music Awards, recognizing their monumental impact on African music. They initially formed as a dancing and singing group in the late 1990s before founding P-Square after a talent show win in 2001. The brothers signed their first record deal with Timbuk2 Label and released their debut album in 2003.

Their influence extends beyond music into African entertainment and popular culture. P-Square is widely recognized as one of the most successful music groups from Africa, with a legacy that continues to influence contemporary artists across the continent.
