Minna Salami was born in 1978 to a Finnish mother and Nigerian father. This cross-cultural background shaped how she would later tell stories that bridged continents and worldviews.

She built her career as a journalist with a focus on African issues and gender. The Guardian became one of her regular platforms. Her byline appeared on pieces that challenged conventional thinking about African women, relationships and society.

In 2010, she created MsAfropolitan.com as her own editorial home. The site published her writing on themes ranging from polygamy to feminism to relationships. It gave her complete control over the narratives she wanted to shape.

Her voice caught the attention of major international outlets. Aljazeera.com published her work. She became a contributor whose perspective on African feminism and identity resonated across borders.

Her credibility grew in academic and intellectual circles. Duke University recognised her as a member of the Global Educator Network. She also joined The Guardian Books Network and the Africa Network, connecting her to institutions shaping global conversation.
