The timing was perfect. As streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music grew in Africa, artists needed local expertise to navigate them. Freeme Digital positioned itself as that essential layer—connecting Lagos to the world.

Under Ugwu's leadership, Freeme Digital scaled across West Africa. The company moved beyond distribution into management, publishing, and artist development. He understood what executives at Sony had taught him: relationships and infrastructure matter more than trends.

Today, Freeme Digital stands as one of Nigeria's significant music tech companies. Ugwu remains its CEO, watching the industry he once worked in from the inside now transform from the outside. His path mirrors Nigeria's music evolution itself—from physical sales to streaming, from corporate gatekeepers to distributed platforms.
