About Mensa Otabil
Mensa Otabil's name became known across Lagos and beyond long before most Nigerians could name a single Ghanaian theologian. The man had already built something formidable in Accra while his influence quietly spread across West Africa.
He was born on August 31, 1959. Little is known of his early years, but what became clear was that Otabil possessed an uncommon gift for moving people with words.
In Accra, Otabil founded the International Central Gospel Church. What started as a vision grew into a network of local assemblies spanning Ghana, Europe, the United States, Canada and across Africa. The church became his platform, but not his only one.
He established himself as a motivational speaker and theologian with a particular focus on African issues. His messages resonated beyond the pulpit. He spoke at conferences and churches internationally, bringing perspectives shaped by the African context to global audiences.
Otabil's ambitions extended into education and business. He founded Central University College and serves as its Chancellor. He also established Otabil and Associates, an executive and leadership growth consultancy firm. These ventures reflected his belief that transformation had to happen in multiple spheres—spiritual, intellectual, and professional.
As senior pastor of Christ Temple, a ministry under the International Central Gospel Church umbrella, Otabil oversees a growing movement. The churches under his leadership continue expanding across continents. His work demonstrates how a single vision, rooted in Ghana, can reach across borders and touch multiple nations.
Today, Otabil remains active in his roles as theologian, speaker, and entrepreneur. His influence in African Christian thought and motivational speaking has made him a figure Nigerians and others across the continent recognize and respect. What he built in Accra has become something far larger.
