Gloria "Glory" Alozie Oluchi was born on December 30, 1977, in Nigeria. She emerged as a junior sensation in 1996, placing second at the World Junior Championships in her specialty: the hurdles. That early promise suggested a stellar career ahead.

Competing for Nigeria, Alozie became a dominant force on the African stage. She won the African Championships twice and held both the African and Commonwealth records in the 100 metres hurdles. Her times made her among the fastest hurdlers on the continent during that era.

On July 6, 2001, Alozie made a significant decision. She officially became a Spanish citizen, shifting her international representation. The move proved strategic for her career trajectory.
