# Hareem Farooq: Pakistan's Multi-Talented Star
Most Nigerians first heard of Hareem Farooq when she became the first female celebrity to host Pakistan Super League in 2018. It was a watershed moment for women in South Asian entertainment. She had already built an impressive career across theatre, film, and television by then.
Hareem began on the stage, not the screen. She played Fatima Jinnah in Pawnay 14 August and took the role of Kiran in the stage adaptation of Aangan Terha, a beloved Pakistani sitcom. Theatre gave her the foundation that would define her entire career.
Her film debut came in 2013 with Siyaah, a horror thriller that immediately put her on the map. The performance earned her a Lux Style Award nomination for Best Actress. It was a strong introduction to cinema, proving she could carry a major production.
Television became her true playground. In 2014, she starred in Hum TV's romantic series Mausam and won the Hum Award for Best Television Sensation Female. That same year, she appeared in Mere Humdum Mere Dost and Dusri Bivi. By 2015, she had settled into Diyar-e-Dil, which became one of her signature roles.
But Hareem refused to stay in front of the camera alone. In 2016, she co-produced and starred in Janaan, a romance that showed her creative ambitions. She followed this with comedies—Parchi in 2018 and Heer Maan Ja in 2019. The shift to lighter fare proved she had range beyond dramatic roles.
Her 2018 PSL hosting role was groundbreaking. No female celebrity in Pakistan had received that honour before. It represented a significant moment for women in sports entertainment across South Asia.
Beyond acting and producing, Hareem is also a singer. Her music career has run parallel to her work in film and television, though she has kept the focus primarily on her acting and production ventures.
Today, Hareem Farooq stands as one of Pakistan's most versatile entertainers. She moves seamlessly between theatre, film, television, and now sports broadcasting. Her career trajectory shows an artist unafraid to take risks and expand her creative boundaries.
