Born on August 25, 1959, Dotun grew up in a Britain vastly different from the multicultural nation it would become. He carved out a career in broadcasting that would define late-night radio for generations. His voice became familiar to insomniacs, shift workers, and night owls across the country.

Up All Night on BBC Radio 5 Live became his flagship show. The programme ran for years, with Dotun steering conversations through the darkest hours. He had a gift for making solitary listeners feel less alone through their radios.

Before that success, he also hosted Brief Lives, an obituary programme that ran until July 2007. The show required a delicate touch—honouring the departed while engaging living audiences. Dotun brought respect and warmth to the format.

In 2023, Dotun released EFFRIES, his noir-moir memoirs published under his pen name "Radio Dotun." The book offered listeners an intimate look at the man behind the overnight broadcasts.
