Michael Collins Ajereh was born on November 26, 1982. He would later become known professionally as Don Jazzy, a name that would define Nigerian music production for decades. Long before he became a household name, he was grinding in studios, learning the craft that would make him legendary.
In 2004, Don Jazzy co-founded Mo' Hits Records with D'banj. The label became a powerhouse, producing hit after hit that dominated Nigerian airwaves. His production work caught the attention of industry giants across the globe.
From 2011 to 2013, Don Jazzy worked as an in-house producer for Kanye West's GOOD Music. This was a defining moment in his career. It proved that Nigerian talent could compete at the highest levels of the international music industry.
But Don Jazzy had bigger dreams. In 2012, he founded Mavin Records as a subsidiary of Mavin Global Holdings. The label became a breeding ground for fresh talent and chart-topping records. He signed artists including Rema, Ayra Starr, Magixx, Bayanni, Johnny Drille, Ladipoe, Lifesize Teddy, DJ Big N, and Boy Spyce.
Don Jazzy's work as a music executive and record producer transformed the Nigerian music landscape. His eye for talent and production skills helped shape some of the biggest careers in Afrobeats. Beyond music, he is also a businessman and philanthropist with an estimated net worth of ₦3.5 billion — ₦4 billion (approximately $2.3 million — $2.6 million USD).
