The 200-meter dash at the 2015 African Games in Congo was Divine Oduduru's moment. The Nigerian sprinter crossed the line in silver, his time a testament to years of grinding on the track.

Ejowvokoghene Divine Oduduru was born on October 7, 1996. By his teenage years, he had already begun to dominate age-category competitions across Africa.

He was a twice-champion at the African Youth Athletics Championships. Between 2011 and 2014, he won five African Junior Championships in the sprints and the 200-meter dash. At the 2014 World Junior Championships, he claimed silver in the 200 meters, announcing himself to the global stage while still a teenager.

His senior career began at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2014 African Championships in Athletics. But it was in American collegiate competition where Oduduru truly flourished. Running for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, he became a four-time NCAA champion. His personal bests—9.86 seconds in the 100 meters and 19.73 seconds in the 200 meters—placed him among Nigeria's elite sprinters. The 200-meter mark remains a Nigerian national record.

The African Games became his stage. In 2015, he took silver in the 200 meters. Four years later at the 2019 African Games, he returned to the podium with another 200-meter silver. At the 2018 African Championships in Athletics, he added a third continental medal to his collection.

Puma sponsored Oduduru as his career reached its peak. He was a two-time Nigerian national champion. Everything pointed toward a future filled with medals and records.

In 2023, anti-doping rule violations derailed his trajectory. Oduduru received a six-year ban from competition. The ban is set to expire in February 2029, when he will be 32 years old. For now, one of Nigeria's finest sprinters remains sidelined from the sport that defined him.
