About Davido

Fall dominated the airwaves when Davido's dominance became undeniable. The song became the longest-charting Nigerian pop single on the Billboard charts, cementing his place in global music. Yet it was his earlier hits that first announced his arrival.

David Adedeji Adeleke was born on November 21, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia. His father, Chief Adedeji Adeleke, is one of Nigeria's wealthiest businessmen. The family moved to Lagos when Davido was still young, and he grew up in Nigeria's bustling capital.

He attended school in Lagos before enrolling at Oakwood University in Alabama to study Business Administration. The pull of music proved stronger than any degree. He left university to focus on making beats and recording vocal references.

Davido made his music debut as a member of KB International before launching his solo career. His first single, Back When, dropped in 2011. Dami Duro followed as his second single and became a nationwide anthem, launching him into the spotlight.

His debut album Omo Baba Olowo arrived in 2012 and spawned six additional hits—Ekuro, Overseas, All of You, Gbon Gbon and Feel Alright. That same year, he won the Next Rated award at The Headies, Nigeria's biggest music awards ceremony. Between 2013 and 2015, he released a string of singles including Gobe, Skelewu, Aye and The Money.

In January 2016, Davido signed with Sony Music and founded Davido Music Worldwide, his own record label. He later signed with Sony's RCA Records in July 2016. The extended play Son of Mercy arrived that October with singles like How Long and Coolest Kid in Africa.

In 2017, Davido renegotiated his Sony contract to gain creative control. That year he released If and Fall, singles that dominated global charts and streaming platforms. His influence spread across Africa and beyond, reaching listeners worldwide.

Today, Davido's net worth stands at an estimated $30 million. He remains one of Nigeria's most successful music exports, with a catalogue that continues to grow.
