About Chidi Nwaogu
Code was still being written when Chidi Nwatu founded LAGbook, a social network that would eventually reach one million registered users.
Chidi Nwaogu was born on May 20, 1990. He grew up in Nigeria with a passion for technology and software development that would shape his entire career.
LAGbook became his first major venture. The social network grew rapidly across Nigeria, attracting users who wanted to connect online. By 2013, the platform had become valuable enough to acquire. The sale marked a turning point in Nwatu's entrepreneurial journey.
But one exit was not enough. He went on to found and sell two startup companies before his thirties. Each venture taught him something new about building products Nigerians wanted and needed.
In 2021, the Jack Ma Foundation recognized Nwatu as one of Africa's Top 10 Business Heroes. That same year, YNaija listed him among the 100 Most Powerful Young Nigerians. At thirty-one, he had already proven himself as a builder and innovator in Nigeria's tech space.
Nwatu then co-founded Publiseer in Lagos. The digital publishing company gave Nigerian creators a platform to distribute their work across Africa and beyond. It reflected his understanding of what the continent's creative economy needed.
Most recently, Nwatu co-founded Efiwe, a mobile-first, AI-powered coding platform. The platform makes coding education accessible to Nigerians on smartphones. It represents where Nigerian tech is heading—intelligent, inclusive, and built for Africa.
From LAGbook to Efiwe, Chidi Nwatu has built companies that solve real problems for Nigerians. His track record speaks for itself.
