Javier Hernández Balcázar was born on June 1, 1988, in Guadalajara, Mexico. His nickname, Chicharito—meaning "little pea"—stuck from childhood and followed him across continents. The striking talent emerged early at his boyhood club, where he made his senior debut at just 18 years old in 2006.

In 2010, Manchester United came calling. Hernández signed and immediately made an impact, winning the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award in his first season. Over five years at Old Trafford, he amassed over 150 appearances and scored 59 goals. He won two Premier League titles and set a then-record fifth-best minutes-per-goal ratio of 130.2 in league history. The 2011 Champions League Final saw him reach club football's grandest stage.
