Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu was born on July 2, 1991. He would later become known to the world as Burna Boy, a Nigerian singer-songwriter and record producer who redefined Afrobeats on the global stage. His rise from Lagos to international stardom happened with remarkable speed.

Like to Party changed everything in 2012. The single introduced Burna Boy to Nigerian audiences and announced his arrival as a serious artist. His debut studio album L.I.F.E followed in 2013, establishing him as more than a one-hit wonder.

In 2017, Burna Boy signed with Atlantic Records and Warner Music Group. Outside became his major label debut in 2018 and marked a turning point in his career. The album showcased his growth as both a musician and producer.

African Giant in 2019 became his breakthrough moment globally. It won Album of the Year at the All Africa Music Awards and earned a Grammy nomination for Best World Music Album. That same year, he won Best International Act at the BET Awards and was named an Apple Music Up Next artist.

Twice as Tall arrived in 2020 with even greater ambition. The album won Best World Music Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. He also won African Artist of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards and claimed Best International Act at the 2021 BET Awards for the third time.

Love, Damini released in July 2022 became his most commercially successful project yet. It achieved the highest debut by a Nigerian album on the Billboard 200 chart and topped charts across France, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. That October, he received the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic plaque for his musical achievements.

By 2023, Rolling Stone ranked Burna Boy number 197 on its list of the 200 greatest singers of all time. His estimated net worth stands between $9 million and $12 million. From Lagos to the world, Burna Boy proved Nigerian music could dominate globally.
