About Adekunle Adejumo
The Delivery Boy had barely finished its festival run when Adekunle Adejumo knew he had made something special. The film would go on to screen across four continents, carrying the Nigerian filmmaker's vision to audiences worldwide. By 2018, it had won the Best Nigerian Film Award at Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF). That recognition changed everything.
Adekunle started his career behind the scenes at a TV network. He worked as a producer, writer and director of TV shows and documentaries, learning the craft from every angle. His work was solid but he wanted more creative control.
The turning point came when he rose to Creative Director and head of production at the network. He shaped the channel's visual language and oversaw all creative output. But after years climbing the corporate ladder, he decided to leave and build something of his own.
In 2015, he was shortlisted among just 21 cinematographers worldwide for the cinematography master class at The Berlin Film Festival in Germany. The honour showed he was competing at an international level. That same year, he founded Something Unusual Studios, his own film production company.
At Something Unusual Studios, Adekunle directed and produced The Delivery Boy. He wrote it, shaped it, and brought his singular vision to life. The film became his signature work—a story that resonated far beyond Nigeria's borders.
He also leads The Elite Film Team as team lead. Beyond narrative films, Adekunle has served as producer and executive producer for documentaries and commercials for international organisations. His range spans from intimate character studies to large-scale commercial work.
Today, Adekunle "Nodash" Adejumo operates at the intersection of Nigerian storytelling and global cinema. His work continues to screen at festivals and reach international audiences. What started in a TV network studio evolved into something genuinely unusual—a filmmaker committed to telling stories that travel.
