Newly-inaugurated Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has promised to prioritise the welfare of his people as he commences his full term as 7th governor of the state.

Aiyedatiwa said this after his inauguration at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, the state capital, on Monday.

Aiyedatiwa took his oath of office just after his deputy Olayide Adelami around 12:59 pm.

Speaking after his inauguration, the governor noted that his administration has restored confidence in the government since assuming office on December 27, 2023.

He promised that he and his deputy would continue to prioritise the welfare of the people as the full term commences.

He said, “We like to assure you that the overwhelming renewed mandate you have freely given to us has further placed on us a huge burden of leadership and we promise never to rest on our oars.

“I and my deputy, we make a solemn pledge this day that we shall lead and govern with the fear of God and utmost dedication to the progress of the state. We will prioritise the welfare of our people particularly most vulnerable among us, that is the poor, the sick and the marginalised.”

Aiyedatiwa also promised to improve the economic fortunes of the state in the next four years.

“In the next four years, we will work with interested investors and our development partners in ensuring that our Port Ondo becomes a reality.

“We will also facilitate investors to explore our large deposit of bitumen for local use and export purposes thereby generating huge revenue for the state,” he said.

Meanwhile, the inauguration ceremony was graced by the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, and Minister of Youth Development, Hon Ayodele Olawande.

Former Governors of Osun, Ogun and Ondo states, Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Olusegun Osoba, and Dr Olusegun Mimiko, also attended the ceremony.
