Sen. Lalong, Yelwa needs your attention

I wish to draw, with utmost respect, the attention of  Distinguished Sen. Simon Bako Lalong, Senator representing Plateau Southern Senatorial District at the National Assembly to as a matter of urgency  speed up the reconstruction of the dilapidated Yelwa-Kalong road under your constituency which has, over the past couple of years, remained neglected.

I also wish to equally appeal to you Sir, that an immediate rehabilitation of the popular Pandam Bridge, along that way which has collapsed approximately a year today and created a needless distance between Yelwa town and a number of neighbouring communities from its western axis who have, overtime, been supplying the nation with hundreds of thousands of metric tonnes of grains and other foodstuffs, should be given attention. 

These multimillion-naira economic activities have been a great enabler for huge revenues that benefit authorities at all levels, notwithstanding creating thousands of jobs to residents but have now been at risk of facing serious decline because of the collapse of the transportation facilities in the area.

One year today, the gravity of hardships inflicted by the collapse of the bridge on residents of Yelwa and its surrounding communities, especially on commuters and motorists, has been very worrisome as the road has remained completely inaccessible. 

I am happy with your recent pronouncement in Shendam when you inspected the ongoing construction of a bridge in Total Area, where   you recounted your efforts in convincing President Tinubu to reconstruct the collapsed bridge in Shendam. 

I want to reassure you that Yelwa has been and would continue to remain your stronghold. It is imperative, therefore, that you see this as an opportunity to payback to the people with all the good things they have been doing to make them even more proud and have much confidence in you and the quality of representation you offer.

International Equinox Earth Day 2024: Earth belongs to everyone

Annually, there is a global international Equinox Earth Day Celebration to renew our collective commitment to honour the Earth and promote peace for all to live and enjoy the Earth that belongs to us all.

As we celebrated the Equinox Earth Day on March 19, we must hold on to our struggle for freedom and independence with the strong conviction that the earth belongs to everyone. This day reminds us that Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians.

This year’s Equinox Earth Day Celebration reminded us that until we stand up in unionism to reject the practice of few owning the Earth that is a natural gift from God to all of us, we will continue to be enslaved by them. We must all know that the solution to peace and conflicts that have eluded Nigeria and the world is our inability to collectively stop a few from having absolute control and ownership of the Earth that belongs to us all.

And, until we collectively pursue this goal, inequality, poverty, and conflict will continue unabated with the ruling class oligarchy pretending not to know they are the real problem.
