Senators under the aegis of Northern Senators’ Forum have commiserated with people and the Government of Zamfara state over the recent tragic fire outbreak at an Islamic school in Kaura Namoda, resulting in loss of lives.
In a statement signed by their Chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua (Katsina Central) Friday, the senators said their hearts “go out to the families and loved ones of the victims.”
The statement read in part, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic fire outbreak that occurred at an Islamic school in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara state, resulting in the loss of precious lives. Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of the victims.
“…we are touched by this unfortunate incident and urge the Ministry of Education at state levels to ensure proper supervision and accreditation of schools before allowing them to operate. This will help prevent such tragedies in the future.
“We call on the state government to provide adequate support and compensation to the affected families. We pray that the Almighty Allah grants eternal rest to the souls of the departed and comfort to their loved ones.
“May this tragic incident serve as a wake-up call for all stakeholders to prioritise the safety and well-being of our children in public places.
“We will continue to monitor the situation and work towards strengthening legislation to ensure that our schools are safe and conducive for learning.”
