
Southwest Caucus of the House of Representatives has joined Afenifere, the Yoruba race and the Government and people of Ogun State in mourning the passing of elder statesman, Pa Ayo Adebanjo.
The Caucus said Pa Adebanjo’s transition marks the departure of a towering figure whose lifelong dedication to natural justice, equity, and good governance shaped the course of Nigeria’s democratic evolution.
A statement jointly signed b James Abiodun Faleke (Chairman), Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka and Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro (Secretary) on Friday said “As a close associate of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and a founding member of the Action Group, his contributions to nation-building and the entrenchment of progressive governance remain unparalleled.
“A steadfast voice for restructuring, national unity, and true federalism, Pa Adebanjo exemplified the values of integrity, courage, and unwavering patriotism. Through his leadership in Afenifere, he remained a principled and consistent advocate for the protection of democratic ideals and the socio-political advancement of the Nigerian state.
“The Southwest Caucus recognizes his immense sacrifices and contributions to the collective aspirations of our region and the nation at large. As representatives of the people, we reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals he so passionately championed.
“We pray for the peaceful repose of the soul of the dear departed, and may his legacy continue to inspire generations to come”.
