Police In Rivers Arrest Man For Hacking Friend To Death Over Missing Phone

The Police in Rivers have arrested a man in his early 30s identified as Michael, for allegedly stabbing his friend, Uchemna to death over a missing phone.

The incident, which happened on Wednesday at Egede Street, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, left neighbours shocked over the development.

An eyewitness disclosed that trouble started after the deceased Uchenna visited the suspect, Michael, in his house where the phone of the suspect went missing.

After frantic efforts to locate the missing phone failed, the suspect accused the deceased of stealing his phone and demanded that he provide the missing phone, but the deceased denied the accusation.

Before long, the accusation ensued into a heated argument leading to an exchange of blows l, prompting the suspect, Michael to pick up a sharp knife and allegedly stabbed Uchenna on the Stomach.

Daily INDEPENDENT gathered that the injured Uchenna was later rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead. Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace IringeKoko, a superintendent of Police said the suspect had been apprehended and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID). She said, “Yes I can confirm the incident.

The suspect has been arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcourt for detailed investigation”.
