Pierce Brosnan Pleads Guilty To Yellowstone National Park Trespassing

Ex-James Bond star, Pierce Brosnan has pleaded guilty to hiking too close to sensitive geothermal pools in Yellowstone National Park.

Pierce pled guilty to one of two charges against him-namely, one count of foot travel in all thermal areas and within Yellowstone Canyon confined to trails, after he allegedly wandered into a delicate hot spring at Yellowstone National Park in November of 2023.

It comes two months after he initially pleaded not guilty to trespassing in hot springs, where boiling temperatures can be reached by acid rising from the ground.

He was ordered to pay a fine of over $1,500 (£1,175) for the offense, by a judge in Wyoming.

The payment will go to a non-profit called Yellowstone Forever, an organization that is tasked with preserving the Yellowstone National Park.

A second offense of disregarding closure signs in the area, was dismissed by US magistrate judge, Stephanie Hambrick.

Federal rules require visitors of the national park to stay on designated walkways around Mammoth Terraces, and violations are punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $5,000 (£3,946).

Yellowstone has millions of visitors each year. Going out-of-bounds in such areas can be dangerous. At least 22 people have died from burns sustained from the park’s springs and geysers.

On Instagram, a picture of Brosnan at the well-known park was shared. It showed Brosnan posing by the snow-covered springs while wearing sunglasses and a brim hat.

Brosnan was residing in the area while filming a new movie, at the time of the offence.
