A non governmental organization, Save the Children International (SCI) Thursday handed over special care baby unit equipments to Yobe state government at the specialist hospital Damaturu as part of its effort to minimize neonatal deaths in the state.
The donated equipments includes; neonatal ventilators, neonatal incubators, continuous positive airway pressure machine, Oxygen concentration, infusion pumps, phototherapy lamps, multi-parameter monitor, neonatal stethoscopes, laryngoscopes, bag and mask devices and transcutaneous bilirubin meters.
Other are; digital pets dog cat baby infant weighing scale, haemoglobinometer/hemocue, Portable handheld oximeter LED display blood oxygen pulses, desktop computers and HMIS software development with internet, radiant warmers, electric sunction machines respectively.
Receiving the equipments on behalf of the Yobe state Government,the state Commissioner ministry of health, Dr Mahamud Lawan Gana, appreciated the effort of SCI for the donation and advised the management of the specialist hospital Damaturu to maintain and secure the equipments.
Represented by Dr. Idi Garba Garbawa, the health commissioner said the SCBU center would become neonatal hope to all the new born with medical challenges .
Dr. Abdulkadir Abdulrauf who is SCI Head of Technical Adviser said, one of their key mandate is to ensure all the children are given opportunity to survive.
