From Fred Ezeh, Abuja
Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has announced a strengthened partnership with its counterpart, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to market the good brand Nigeria represent in the Holy lands.
NCPC Executive Secretary, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, disclosed this at an event mark the one year anniversary of the management of the Commission at its headquarters in Abuja.
The NCPC boss said the partnership became necessary so there can be opportunities for deep exchange of ideas, capacity, knowledge and skills, as regards pilgrimage services for the benefit of Nigerians.
He said: “I saw the need to work with my counterpart in the Hajj Commission to strengthen the peace and unity in Nigeria, and also deliver quality pilgrimage experience to Nigerians of different faith.
“To this end, I recently visited the Executive Chairman of NAHCON, Prof. Saleh Usman, to solidify this partnership. Being the two major faith in Nigeria, we must work in synergy and in tandem and beyond pilgrimage, we must be able to show and demonstrate to Nigerians that religion should not divide us, but should further unite us. We must look at our areas of convergency rather than areas of divergency.”
He assured all intending pilgrims that NCPC is more positioned and strengthened, working with service providers, to deliver a wonderful pilgrimage experience to Nigerians which will provide them the first hand opportunity to experience God.
“We are doing well, we in the Commission are happy, the service providers are happy, Mr. Pesident is happy, Nigerians are happy and I am happy. NCPC staff members should also expect better performance, better administration within the commission. The biggest room in the world is the room of improvement and we are going to do that,” he said.
The NCPC appreciated the support that had come from the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, as well as the Members of the NCPC Governing Board, which has helped to facilitate a seamless pilgrimage experience so far.
He added: “So far, we have airlifted over 1000 pilgrims, and no case of casualty has been recorded. The cases of abscondment was insignificant, because we have recovered the few that absconded or tried to abscond.”
He assured Nigerians that the government is working assiduously to fix Nigeria, urging Nigerians to pray for him to deliver in the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking also, Senator Representing Adamawa North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sen. Rev. Amos Yohanna, commended Bishop Adegbite for the transformation he brought to the commission within one year of leadership.
