The first Wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris has empowered 100 women farmers with improved rice and maize seedlings, fertilizer, pesticides, and cash grants in Zuru Emirates as part activities of Renewed Hope Initiative of First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The initiative, which complements the cash grants donated by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, was aimed to support women farmers in the state and to promote food security and economic prosperity.
While addressing the beneficiaries, Hajiya Idris advised the beneficiaries to utilize the donated resources effectively and encouraged them to remain active participants in agricultural activities.
“I urge you all to plant the improved rice seedlings, boost your rice farming, and make more money for yourselves,” she said.
Each beneficiary, selected from four local government areas in Zuru Emirates (Fakai, Dankowasagu, and Sakaba), received improved rice and maize seedlings, fertilizer, pesticides, and N50,000 cash.
Hajiya Hadiza Kola, State Chairperson of Women in Agriculture, emphasized the importance of farming and home gardening for women farmers in Zuru Emirates. She announced a competition for women farmers, where the winner will be rewarded for growing the biggest rice farm.
In his remark,the Chairman of Zuru Local Government,Alhaji Bala Muhammad S.Kudu, expressed gratitude to the First Lady on behalf of all local government chairmen in the area.
He reaffirmed the people’s support and political loyalty to Governor Nasir Idris’ administration.
