Fabrizio Romano tips Tottenham to strengthen one key position in summer

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has backed Tottenham Hotspur to make a special acquisition in the centre of the park.

The Italian journalist revealed that the North London team’s summer transfer window is focused on signing a midfield player.

Oliver Skipp, who has battled for playing time this season, may not have many more years at Tottenham since Ange Postecoglou doesn’t appear to value the Spurs academy graduate.

Tottenham are set to lose experienced midfielder

Another midfielder who is set to leave the club is Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, with the Dane entering the final year of his contract at the end of the season.

A number of midfielders have been linked with a move to join Ange Postecoglou’s team in the summer transfer window.

Among those names, Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher heads the list, with Atalanta midfielder Ederson also mentioned by some reports in the media.

The latest midfielder to be linked with Spurs is Juventus star Adrien Rabiot, who could be coming to the Premier League and move to North London, to join either Spurs or their rivals Arsenal.

Romano thinks that when the transfer market reopens in June, Tottenham may make a bid for a well-known midfield player.

The reporter informed JD Football: “I see Tottenham signing an important midfielder in the summer, a really important one, I think they want to add something special in that position.”

Tottenham are looking to sign a midfielder and striker

Signing a midfielder might be Tottenham’s biggest priority in the summer transfer window, followed by a prolific striker who can replace the goals of Harry Kane.

Postecoglou has impressed in his debut season at Spurs and the club chiefs are ready to trust the manager by handing him the power to making signings and make the team even more competitive.

Spurs are fighting for a place in the Champions League next season and should they qualify for it, their transfer budget could significantly increase.
