CRFFN Collaborates With NPA For Efficient Port Operations, Global Competitiveness

The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has moved to collaborate   with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to improve port operations and enhance the global competitiveness of Nigeria’s maritime industry.

CRFFN Registrar Mr. Kingsley Igwe, who spoke during a visit to the NPA’s Corporate Headquarters in Lagos, emphasized the critical roles both institutions play in cargo delivery processes.

 Igwe affirmed the Council’s dedication to promoting best practices, compliance, and efficiency within the maritime sector.

He said: “Our visit today is about strengthening the relationship between our agencies as we both play critical roles in ensuring seamless freight logistics and port operations.

“CRFFN remains committed to the professionalization and regulation of freight forwarding in Nigeria, ensuring best practices, compliance, and efficiency within the sector.”

He further highlighted the Council’s interest in deeper collaboration in areas such as capacity building, data sharing, operational synergy, and policy alignment, all aimed at improving port operations and enhancing Nigeria’s competitiveness in global trade.

The Council boss also expressed a desire for active involvement in the port community system currently being developed by the NPA.

The NPA Managing Director Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, while responding, advised the CRFFN to embrace innovations in the maritime industry to align with the Federal Government’s port modernization project.

He noted that modernization and other innovative Projects, would not only enhance the nation’s port status but also enable Nigerian ports to compete more effectively with those of neighboring countries.

Dr. Dantsoho disclosed that the modernization project would commence at both Apapa and Tin-Can Island ports, and upon completion, is expected to generate increased cargo traffic and revenue for the government.

He said: ”Another milestone was the approval of the Single Window Project, which is geared towards improving our capacity, efficiency, and increasing our ability to generate more revenue. We are headed towards a positive direction and are hopeful that very soon, these major approvals will reflect in our performance.”

This partnership underscores the shared commitment of CRFFN and NPA to advancing Nigeria’s maritime and logistics sector through enhanced collaboration and innovation.
