It emerged this week that Liverpool have singled out Feyenoord boss Arne Slot to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield and the Dutch coach has stated that he is “waiting” to become the Reds’ next manager.
The Liverpool boss will leave the Merseyside club at the end of the season after a very successful nine years and whoever succeeds him has a massive job on their hands trying to live up to the standards the German coach has set.
Liverpool fans will not expect their new coach to do this but are patiently waiting to see who it will be in the Anfield dugout next season.
According to Sky Sports, the Premier League club are currently in talks with Feyenoord over a compensation fee after Liverpool made an initial approach worth £7.75m for the ex-AZ Alkmaar boss but it is expected to cost the Reds closer to £9m.
Slot is confident an agreement will be reached and has stated that he is “waiting” to join Liverpool ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Feyenoord were in action on Thursday against Go Ahead Eagles, winning the game 3-1 away from home. Speaking after the match, Slot stated that he believes the Eredivisie club will reach an agreement with Liverpool over a fee.
“I believe that Feyenoord will let me join Liverpool as it would be a massive step for me,” the Dutch coach said via Fabrizio Romano.
“There are negotiations ongoing between clubs, I’m here waiting.
“I’m happy at Feyenoord but Liverpool would be a fantastic opportunity for me.”
Everything is pointing in the direction of Slot becoming the next Liverpool manager and it seems to be only a matter of time before the Reds reach an agreement with Feyenoord to allow their coach to move to Anfield for the 2024/25 campaign.
