Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has said that he was glad to receive reports of students from across public and private schools in the state scoring impressive results in the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The governor said of particular note was the result of Master Samuel Oluwasemilore of Government Secondary School, Omu Aran, who scored 358 in the examination.

Governor AbdulRazaq, in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, also congratulated the 30 students from Kwara-based Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Model College, who got between 300 and 355 marks in the examination and similar high-performers from other schools in the state.

“We are proud of achievements like this; they serve as shining examples for younger ones to work harder, be at their best in their studies, and make their parents and community proud.

“We are also excited that these are not isolated successes in our education sector, coming only a few weeks after Kwara State represented Nigeria on the global stage at World School Debate in Singapore, among other feats.

“I assure the good people of this state that we will continue to beat our own record in this critical sector. Our KwaraLEARN programme is yielding impressive results already, and the state executive council has recently approved statewide coverage for the tech-based learning programme. The next few years will yield awesome learning outcomes, while we are soon launching a first-of-its-kind Kwara State Education Trust Fund to inject more resources and strengthen accountability in the sector,” the governor said.
