Falconets head coach, Chris Danjuma, said his team is firmly focused on retaining their gold medal in the women’s football event at the 13th African Games.

The holders defeated Uganda 2-0 on Monday night to set up a final clash with arch-rivals Ghana.

Danjuma’s side have an unblemished record in the competition, winning all three games.

The Falconets have also scored eight goals without conceding.

Ghana defeated the Falconets the last time both countries met in the final of the WAFU B U-20 Championship last year.

The gaffer stated that his team is battle-ready for the hosts this time around.

“We should have put away some of the chances we created in the first half, but we are happy to get two second-half goals and reach the final. It is an opportunity to retain our gold medal from the last edition in Morocco and we will do everything to win and make Nigerians happy,” he told thenff.com.

“Inasmuch as we are not thinking about revenge, we know that we have unfinished business with Ghana. Our primary objective is to retain our gold medal in the African Games and by doing that, we would have sorted out the unfinished business.”

Thursday’s final at the Cape Coast Stadium will kick off at 9 pm Nigerian time.
