Taimako Community Development Initiative (TCDI)in partnership with Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation for Peace (COFP), embarked on a one-day awareness campaign on Gender Based Violence (GBV) at Azbak community in Bade local government area of Yobe state.
The campaign with the the theme,”Adjusting perception and awareness on gender based violence, prevention and response,” took place at the Azbak community.
They said it is aimed to raise awareness, promote understanding,and establish a community-led response to GBV.
Blueprint report that the campaign brought together diverse group of stakeholders, including community leaders, religious leaders, vigilante groups, keke Napep riders, market women, youth leaders, social workers, and teachers.
In his opening remarks, the Executives Director, Taimako Community Development Initiative (TCDI), Gambo Garba Muhammad, emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in preventing GBV.
He urged parents at the community to provide for their children’s basic needs and quality education, particularly for the girl child, who he described as the “foundation of a brighter community.”
In her remarks, a fellow with Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation (COFP), Dr.Zara Yusuf, who provided an overview of the session, commended the community for their participation and commitment to addressing GBV.
She emphasized the importance of sustained efforts and collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the protection and empowerment of women and girls in the community.
