ABUJA – The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), under the leadership of Barr Nyesom Wike, is nearing completion of 12 divisional police stations and six-unit police staff quarters across the six Area Councils of the FCT.
The transformative security infrastructure project is not only enhancing security but also creating employment opportunities for local residents.

As the projects progress rapidly, FCT residents are optimistic that the police stations’ presence will foster long-term security and economic benefits.
Speaking on the project in Saburi, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Architect Nuhu Musa revealed that construction began on November 19 and has now reached 70% completion, with roofing currently underway.

“We planned for a year-long project, but we are confident of completing it within six months,” Musa stated. “The police station and six-unit two-bedroom staff quarters are progressing faster than scheduled. The community’s cooperation has been exceptional, with many locals employed as artisans and security personnel.”
Engineer Ahmed Yahaya, site engineer for Armodris Nigeria Limited the project’s contractor expressed satisfaction with the progress.
“We’ve been on-site for three months without any casualties. This project is a significant intervention, and residents continuously bless the Minister for bringing it to Saburi,” Yahaya said.
Prince Yahaya Mohammed, a Saburi 1 resident and project supervisor, praised the FCT Minister for creating job opportunities.
“Many of us now have stable income through this project. We hope Saburi youths will also be considered in future police recruitment,” he noted.
The Village Head of Saburi, Alhaji Muhammad Yamawo, commended the FCTA for both the police station project and the newly constructed Saburi-Dei Dei road.
“We suffered due to poor roads, but Wike has wiped our tears. The road has boosted security as police patrols now cover the area seamlessly,” Yamawo said.
Director of Security Services at FCTA, Adamu Gwari, highlighted that the police station projects stem from Minister Wike’s strategic vision to strengthen security in the FCT.
“After touring the Area Councils and interacting with residents, the Minister, known as a ‘talk and do’ leader, secured presidential approval for these projects. Initially planned for nine stations, three more were added, ensuring each Area Council receives two facilities,” Gwari explained.
Gwari further revealed that since the implementation of these security projects, crime rates in the FCT have dropped significantly.
“Every month, our security data shows a steady decline in crime. We can confidently say security has improved beyond our expectations,” he concluded.
As the projects near completion, residents and stakeholders eagerly anticipate the positive transformation these facilities will bring, cementing Minister Wike’s commitment to securing the FCT and improving residents’ livelihoods.
