Police have confirmed that residents of Tafoki village in Faskari LGA of Katsina State killed three bandits wounded during a failed attack on their community.
The bandits had on Tuesday stormed Tafoki with about 100 motorcycles and sophisticated weapons but were repelled by a joint team of Nigerian security forces.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region, disclosed this on Wednesday in a post on his X handle.
Makama stated that several bandits sustained injuries before fleeing into the forest during the exchange of gunfire.
According to the report, local sources informed the security expert that three of the injured attackers were captured by villagers on the morning of February 26 and subsequently killed.
“Security forces have been alerted to the development, while efforts to track down other fleeing bandits continue,” Makama said.
