Guinness world record couple for longest kissing split

3 hours ago 23

Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat, the Thai couple who set the Guinness World Record for the longest kiss in 2013, have revealed they are no longer together.

Speaking on the BBC Sounds podcast Witness History, Ekkachai shared that despite their split, he remains “very proud” of their record-breaking 58-hour, 35-minute kiss.

“It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” he told host Megan Jones. “We spent a long time together, and I’m trying to remember the good memories and that we did this together.”

The couple first claimed the record in 2011 with a 46-hour kiss before being dethroned in 2012.

Determined to reclaim their title, they endured grueling competition rules in 2013, including staying awake, remaining locked in a kiss during bathroom breaks, and passing water mouth-to-mouth.

Ekkachai recalled feeling faint at the start and struggling to stay upright. “We tried to stand straight like statues… We were tapping each other on the head and hugging to keep awake.”

As the final two couples battled it out, he noticed their rivals dozing off. “When the other couple’s lips parted, I realized we had won,” he said.

Despite their victory, Ekkachai later admitted, “Only crazy people would accomplish something like that. A normal person wouldn’t try it.”
