Management of Osun State University has said its server was hacked overnight by criminals attempting to disrupt the Osun State teachers’ recruitment test scheduled for Wednesday.

The institution in a statement made available to journalists by the university public relations officer, Mr Ademola Adesoji, said the server was attacked at midnight but prompt response frustrated attempts to breach core software and question bank.

“Unexpectedly, our server was attacked at midnight today.(Wednesday) We responded technically and frustrated attempts to breach our core software and question bank.

“The damage inflicted on the server required time to resolve, resulting in an undue delay in the start of exams and necessitating the rescheduling of tests at two out of thirteen centers,’’ he said.

Adesoji added that the management of the institution are relieved that the hackers or opponents of the recruitment process have failed in their attempts to thwart the exercise.

‘’Over the last eight or so hours it has been a tough battle in our efforts to ensure the success of Osun State government,’’ he said.

He said despite the attack, examinations was held in 11  of the 13 locations on Wednesday, adding that two problematic centres, Osogbo and Ikire, would be rescheduled based on the decision of the relevant government agency.
