Two students of Federal University Wukari (FUW) Taraba State, Joshua Sardauna and Obianu Elizabeth, who were kidnapped about two weeks ago have regained their freedom.

Sardauna, of Economics Department and Obianu of Microbiology Department, were kidnapped outside the school premises on Monday, April 1, 2024.

The kidnappers who had initially demanded a N50 million ransom before reducing it to N12 million, eventually settled for N700,000 after a series of negotiations with the parents of the victims

The Head of Information and Protocol of the University, Mrs. Ashu Agbu, who confirmed the development on Friday said the victims regained their freedom at about 10pm on Thursday night, April 11.

Agbu admitted that ransom was paid to secure the release of the two students, adding that collaborative efforts of security operatives and the school management also facilitated their release.
