Tinubu repairing damage of past administrations – Johnson APC chieftain

1 week ago 42

By Christopher Oji

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Doyin Johnson, has called on Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to support President Bola Tinubu in his mission to rescue Nigeria from the damage done by past administrations in the country.

Johnson, a lecturer, who was speaking at the weekend during the inauguration of the 2025 Honour of State Icons and presentation of certificates of return for three zonal executive councils, 33 state executive councils and 57 local government chairmen by the Intellectual Elite Youth Association of Nigeria (IEYAN), in Lagos, said Tinubu was facing a lot of challenges, which were being handled one after the other.

The governing member, council member of the Federal University of Agriculture, Bayelsa, during his lecture, said Nigerians would soon rejoice as Tinubu was blocking many loopholes where unscrupulous people used to siphon money to their individual pockets, especially in the oil and mining sector.

“President Tinubu is not that type of President that wasn’t prepared to run for an election. Nobody handpicked him to run for election. He has prepared for it for a long time. As a master strategist, a transformer, a political mathematician and enigma, he knows what to do to reform the country. He started by dealing with the oil subsidy scam and it did not go down well with the cabals that were reaping where they did not sow. It was sad that the past administrations, especially that of President Buhari, did not do anything about the scam in oil subsidy. It was President Tinubu that intervened.

“Did you know that the past administration used our crude oil as a loan to borrow money? The loan was just paid last August. So, better things are coming.

“Now, actually, he is revolutionizing agriculture. I mean, Tinubu appointed me as a governing member, council member of the Federal University of Agriculture, Bayelsa. He approved N2.64 billion to do plantation for our school Just to plant, not to spend. Just to plant and make food surplus. Like that in Mubi, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

“They gave the same money to  Abeokuta , about  N7 billion. All the schools of agriculture are being given money to go and do farming.  So, when you are saying you want to sell your bag of rice for N50,000, when somebody from Abeokuta is selling it for N25,000, your price will crash.

“You know, we rely on oil.  I’m talking about crude oil now. Because they sold crude oil and used it to collect loans. They took a loan with our crude oil but  they cannot sell agricultural farm produce now.  So, because they can’t steal from agriculture, they are not investing in it. they can steal from mining.

They were just mining the gold and bitumen and that’s what they were exporting free of charge. They don’t pay money to the government. Now, Tinubu has stopped all those things. He has stopped all those things now.

“All the mining licenses have been withdrawn; they are just renewing them now. You get what I’m saying now? Many Chinese, they extract gold in connivance with some powerful people in Nigeria. They pack them  inside jets and fly out of the country. They have choppers they take to the bush to go and mine.

“Then they pack the gold.  So, all those things he has stopped. What I am saying is that, in a few months to come, Nigeria will be benefiting from the mineral resources, which were being mined by unscrupulous people and the proceeds being eaten by a few individuals.

“You may say that we don’t have money, yet he is still borrowing money. Let me tell you something. As a good businessman, when they started MTN, they wanted you to take a loan from the bank.

When they started Globalcom, they wanted you to take a loan from the bank. A good business, when they go to start to take out a loan, the only thing is that you must not take above 30% of what you need. If you take 70% of what you need, automatically, you are going to have problems.

“That’s not how the government works. You can’t say because the country is broke, there should not be projects. There must be development, there must be economic activities.

“Tinubu, as a visionary leader, brought in the idea of student loans. In the history of Nigeria, there has been nothing like student loans. Billions of naira have been disbursed to students now. Nobody can deprive you, your son or your daughter of going to school again. Bill Clinton took a loan to go to school. As a government official of New York.He was still paying his educational loans. Actually, he brought that to Nigeria. So, you don’t need to go and be an area boy before you make money to go to school.

“Once you make your O’level requirement, and now that people are giving out free GCE forms and free JAMB forms, here and there, there is hope. So, by the time you have all those things, it will be easier. There is no government that is not taking loans.

“The highest debtor in the world is America. You can check the record. The highest debtor in the world is America. But they are using the money for developmental projects. Nigerians that spent 20 years in Canada or America, when they return to go back to Canada, you’ll be collecting pension. But here in Nigeria, you don’t have that.

“It’s not easy at this time, but it’s better than last year. It’s better than last year. Automatically, next year will be better than this year. So, please, let’s support the government. Let’s educate people.

“See some people criticizing the government, but the  schools they even used our money to build, our children can’t go to the schools, but we attended St. John, St. Mary, St. Paul, St. Patrick, because they were all free, but the schools our religious leaders built with their members’ money are a no-go area because of the high cost of school fees.

“That is why I am calling on Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora to rally round Tinubu, support him so that he would accomplish his good dreams for the country. If we rally round him, he will make Nigeria great again and we will be competing with the American economy.

“Tinubu is anointed to take us to the promised land. He was frustrated while he was contesting, even those he made betrayed him. The then President, his Vice President, Senate president and others didn’t want him, to the extent that he gave up hope, but through divine intervention he became the President. He is light and once you tap into his line, you must see light. He is a good man who has affected many lives. So, allow him to bring light to Nigeria.”
