The Imo State Police Command has launched an investigation into a viral TikTok video posted by Miss Jennifer Kingsley, in which she alleged that on February 20, 2025, while she was taking her baby to school, she and the father of her child were assaulted by yet to be identified police officers on patrol in Amakohia, Owerri.
She added that during the incident, a sum of N150,000 was extorted from her.
In response to the complaint, the police said the victim has been contacted and has formally reported the incident to the Command.
In a press statement Monday, the Imo Police spokesman, DSP Henry Okoye said ” Consequently, an investigation is underway to identify those responsible, for possible arrest and appropriate actions. The public will be updated on the progress of our investigation as it unfolds.”
He also said, ” the Command is also aware of the public discussions surrounding this complaint, including comments from TikTok blogger @missnatural01. Under the leadership of CP Aboki Danjuma, the Imo State Police Command remains dedicated to upholding professionalism and accountability while ensuring public safety. Anyone with useful information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to contact the Command’s Public Relations Department.
” Furthermore, the Command urges the public to report any incidents of police misconduct, harassment, or extortion to the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) or the IGP XSquad Unit. Complaints can also be submitted via the dedicated hotline at 08148024755, ensuring prompt and thorough investigation.”
