Three men steal a motorcycle valued at N400,000 in Bauchi, sell it for N100k and use money to lodge in hotel with their girlfriends

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspected criminals for stealing a motorcycle in the Gidan Ruwa area of the state. 

 

 

A spokesperson for the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, March 22, 2024, said the suspects stole a motorcycle valued at N400,000 and sold it for N100,000.

According to the PPRO, the suspects used the money to lodge in a hotel for one night in Bauchi with their girlfriends and purchased hard substances, cigarettes, and codeine syrup.

Wakil noted that the detective’s unrelenting efforts led to the recovery of the stolen motorcycle, a fabricated metal object, and the sum of nine thousand naira from the suspects. 

“In its unwavering commitments to sustain intelligence-led policing aimed at pacifying public spaces and denying criminal elements an avenue to thrive in the State, the operatives attached to area command metro Bauchi have arrested three suspects for criminal conspiracy and theft,” the statement read. 

 

“Following information received on the 15th March 2024 that a motorcycle (Boxer) valued at the sum of four hundred thousand naira (NN400,000) was stolen near Gidan Ruwa area of Bauchi state. 

 

“Upon receiving the information, the Area Commander Metropolitan swiftly drafted his operative to the scene and initiated investigation into the matter.

“Investigation also revealed that the suspect shared the sum of one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) proceeds of the crime among themselves. Out of which, thirty-thousand naira (N30,000) was taken by one of the masterminds of the crime who is currently at large, while the sum of seventy thousand naira (N70,000) was shared among the three arrested suspects. They utilized the money to lodge hotel for one night in Bauchi and purchased hard substances (Crack), cigarettes and Codeine syrup for their girlfriends in the hotel.

 

“Further investigation revealed that two of the three arrested suspects are currently on court bail for similar offences they have been arrested for. While another suspect was convicted for breach of trust and cheating, but granted a state pardon in 2022.
