Suspected herdsmen kill three mourners, farmers in Enugu

Armed men alleged to be herdsmen have killed three villagers of Ugwuijoro in Nimbo community, in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State. 

 

The attack, which occurred on Sunday evening, April 28, left many others critically injured. 

 

According to villagers, those attacked were mourners and farmers.

Some of those killed were identified as Okeh Simon Ugwu Oruku, Okeh Chukwuebuka, Julius Ogbonna Odiegwu and Gabriel Ugwor Ezea.

 

In a video from the scene shared online, a voice is heard crying that the invaders took the villagers by surprise and shot sporadically at the mourners.

Tables and chairs could be seen scattered in the compound where the mourners gathered, with lifeless villagers also seen being loaded into wheelbarrows and the back of a pickup truck.
