The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped by two places in the latest FIFA men’s ranking, which was released yesterday.

The Super Eagles were ranked 28th in the world in the February ranking but dropped to 30th in the ranking released  following the team’s mixed results in last month’s international break.

It will be recalled that in February, the three-time African champions had moved 14 places higher in the FIFA ranking following a great showing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Prior to the AFCON, the team was positioned at a respectable 42nd place globally.

However, their stellar performance in the tournament propelled them to a commendable 28th position in the rankings, showcasing their prowess on the international stage.

Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-1 in Finidi George’s first game as interim manager before losing 2-0 to the Eagles of Mali a few days later.

However, despite dropping two spots, Nigeria remains third on the African continent behind Morocco (13th) and Senegal (17th).

Egypt (37th), Cote d’Ivoire (38th) and Tunisia (41st) round up the rest of the top five on the African continent.

Meanwhile, world champions Argentina remain the number one ranked nation, followed by France, Belgium, England and Brazil.

Portugal, The Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Croatia round up the rest of the global top ten. The next FIFA ranking update will be released after June’s international break.
