Sunshine Stars, Sunshine Queens Win Ondo FA Cups

AKURE – Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens Football Club of Akure have both emerged as winners of male and female categories of the 2024/25 Ondo State FA Cup.

The final match of the female category was played between Sunshine Queens and Onimarg FC of Akure in Ondo City stadium on Sunday.

After playing 3-3 in the regulation time, a penalty kick decision was made and it ended 4-2 in favour of Sunshine Queens.

Likewise, Sunshine Stars defeated its U-19 team 4-3 after playing goalless in the regulation time of the final.

The four teams that qualified for the finals would represent the state at the President Federation Cup.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Football Association, Otunba Sunday Dele-Ajayi, congratulated the four teams that played in the finals.

He, therefore, urged the teams to represent the state very well at the President Federation Cup, saying they should ensure they win the competition for the state.

Dele-Ajayi said: “Congratulations to you all, you are all worthy winners. I will urge you to prepare well for the proper competition when the dates are announced.

“I am happy that you all played well and you are all worthy winners, please be a good ambassador of this state when the competition starts at the national level.”
