Sun Award: Niger SSG hails Governor Bago for the Governor of the Year Award

• Reaffirms Government Commitment to Agriculture Revolution, Food Security in the state

As distinguished Nigerians gathered today at the Eko hotels and suites for the 2024 Sun Publishing Limited Award, the Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman has hailed the state governor Umaru Mohammed Bago for his agricultural revolution programme which has earned him the governor of the Year Award by one of the most recognized Nigeria’s tabloids, the Sun Newspaper.

The Secretary to the State Government in a message to celebrate the Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of the State for being honored with the Sun Publishing Company’s prestigious Best Governor of the Year Award 2024 in Agriculture, reaffirmed Government’s commitment to sustaining the momentum of Governor Bago’s agricultural revolution in the State.

The message which was contained in a statement by the Information Officer, SSG Office Mallam Lawal Tanko believed that the Sun Publishing Limited did not make a mistake for nominating the governor for the prestigious award which he said will spur him to do more for the people.

The state government scribe pointed out that Governor Bago’s administration has made agriculture a cornerstone of its development agenda, implementing innovative policies and programmes that have revolutionized the sector.
According to him under his leadership, the State has witnessed significant investments in modern farming techniques, irrigation systems, agro-processing, and farmer empowerment initiatives, Alhaji Usman pointed out.
He stressed that these efforts have not only boosted food production but also created thousands of jobs, improved rural livelihoods, and positioned Niger State as a leader in Nigeria’s agricultural revolution.

The SSG stated further that, “the award is a recognition of Governor Bago’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development and inclusive growth. His administration’s focus on empowering smallholder farmers, women, and youth has ensured that the benefits of agricultural growth are felt across all segments of society.
“Additionally, his emphasis on value addition through agro-processing has opened new markets for the State’s agricultural products, both locally and internationally”, the statement added.

He maintained that the award is a well-deserved recognition of Governor’s visionary leadership and tireless efforts towards transforming the State into a model of agricultural excellence, adding that “It is also a celebration of the hard work and resilience of the people of Niger State, who have embraced his vision and worked alongside him to achieve these remarkable results”.

Alhaji Usman has expressed the gratitude of people and the Government of the State to the Sun Publishing Company for recognizing Governor Bago’s contributions and a shining light on the transformative power of visionary leadership.
