Niger State Government has directed security operatives to shoot at any hoodlum seen with dangerous weapons in the streets of Minna, the state capital.

The resolution was reached at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the palace of Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago.

The chairman, Chanchaga LGA, who conveyed the state government’s decision, said the order was to allow innocent people go about their normal businesses without fear.

City & Crime had reported how hoodlums have been attacking people in Minna, the state capital for the past few days, including those going for tahajud prayers.

Ladan said the state government would not allow lawless children deny people freedom of movement and right to peaceful gathering.

The Public Relations Officer of the Minna Metro Security Watch, Musa Adamu Maikudi Achaza, the Hadimi Minna (a traditional title of the minister of special duties to the Emir of Minna), also confirmed the resolution.

He said security operatives have launched house-to-house search to get those involved arrested and prosecuted.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, had told our correspondent that police had arrested some of the hoodlums.
