Senators, reps to resume plenary in main chambers April 23

The senators and members of the House of Representatives will on April 23, 2024, move into their main chambers where legislative business will be conducted.

Authorities in the National Assembly have confirmed to Daily Trust that the building would be ready on April 23.

Our correspondent who visited the facility yesterday reports that the Hallowed Chambers were wearing a new look, as the barricades used to restrict movements around the area have been removed.

Recall that the House of Representatives and the Senate had extended their recess from April 16 to April 23, to give room for the completion of the project to enable them to kick-off legislative activities in the main chambers.

The  Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) had in March 2021, awarded a N30 billion renovation contract to Visible Construction Limited to rehabilitate critical segments of the National Assembly complex.

The site Engineer, Tajudeen Olanipekun, had assured that the two chambers would be ready for use this month.
