A former Chief of Army Staff, late Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has been celebrated by his secondary school mates for his commitment to the development of the school during his lifetime.

The school mates who gathered from home and abroad at St. Charles Grammar School, Osogbo, Osun state, presented 11,000 exercise books to the school as part of activities marking the 57 posthumous birthday of the late army chief.

The Principal of the school, Ajayi Toyin John, who doubles as the classmate of late Lagbaja in 1984, described him as a lover of education.

Explaining how Lagbaja donated library and stadium to the school, John noted that the exercise books was anchored by one of his classmates, Real Care Humanity Foundation, funded by Alhaji Jinadu Gazali.

He said, “We are celebrating Taoreed Lagbaja who turns 57 years today. Although he is dead, but we are remembering him. We are members of the 84 set and for all the good deeds he has done when he was alive in St. Charles Grammar School.

“The 84 set is celebrating him and we have provided 11,000 exercise books to be distributed to the students. It was anchored by one of us, Alhaji Jinadu Gazali of 84 set.

“Lagbaja was one of the most quite students in our set. It was a suprise when we heard that he has joined the military.

“But, he was a gallant military man who has done so well for the country, for his town and for the school. He gave us one of the best e-library and one of the best stadium. He fenced the school,” John stated.
